The inaugural Insurance Innovation Summit hosted by OSG Vericlaim took place in the RDS Dublin on Wednesday 27th of September. The event attended by over 160 people representing all sectors of the Insurance Market from Ireland & overseas focused on the changing landscape of the Irish Market, our response to the opportunities arising and the development of Ireland as a center of excellence in the wider Pan European and global insurance market of the future.

Malcolm Hughes a Chartered Insurer, Chartered Loss Adjuster & Certified Insurance Director Malcolm has over 30 years extensive insurance and industry experience in Ireland and overseas markets including North America, Middle East, Far East, South America and Europe. A founding Partner of OSG, Malcolm has overall responsibility for the growth development and strategic direction of the Group. Malcolm is a former President of the Insurance Institute of Dublin, Insurance Institute of Ireland and an EY Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist in 2011.
TD Helen Mc Entee was appointed Minister for European Affairs at the Department of the Taoiseach and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in June 2017. She has been a Teachta Dála since Spring 2013 – Then, at just 27 years of age, she became the second youngest TD, and the youngest female TD to be elected in the 31st Dail.
Mike Arbour serves as division president of Sedgwick’s international group and is also CEO of the Verclaim companies acquired in 2014. He brings nearly 15 years of experience in the insurance services industry, including eight years as CEO of T&H Global, LLC, the company from which Sedgwick acquired Vericlaim, Inc., vrs Vericlaim U.K., Ltd. and Unified Investigations & Sciences. Previously, he worked as a private equity investor focused on the business services, technology and healthcare sectors.
Declan O’Rourke is the General Manager of AIG Ireland – He has been part of their operations for the past 24 years and had fulfilled various roles for them in London, New York and Dublin – Without question, his experience in the Insurance market is unquestionable – and of course I’m sure he has seen many, many changes in how Insurance business has been conducted throughout his time in the industry.
Sylvia Cronin is the Director of Insurance Supervision for the Central Bank of Ireland -having been appointed to this role in October 2014. She is also a member of the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority Board of Supervisors. Sylvia holds an MA in Business Administration, and was admitted as a Chartered Director to the Institute of Directors in London.
Dr Ray Nulty is Managing Partner and founder of Brexit Partners and an associate Managing Director with Berkeley Research Group (BRG). Prior roles include Head of International Financial Services BRG, Head of the European Banking practice Navigant Consulting Group, Managing Director Eircom Enterprise Markets, Manging Director IBM Business Consulting Services, Senior Partner PA Consulting Group and Director Price Waterhouse. Ray has advised firms, governments, policy makers, and regulators across Europe, the United States, and the Far East on financial services, technology and innovation for over 33 years. He has been non-executive chairman and non- executive director of major companies in the telecoms, financial services, cleantech, healthcare and technology sectors. Dr Nulty specialises in business strategy, innovation and market disruption. He has advised firms ranging from start-ups through major multinational corporations in the areas of transformation, market development, international trade, competitive differentiation and corporate finance. Dr Nulty is a qualified company director and accountant. He holds separate doctorates in scenario planning and technology enabled change.
Anne Brett joined OSG Vericlaim back in 2009 and is currently Head of Risk, Compliance & Regulation. Her expertise lie in the area of regulatory risk and operational compliance with a specific focus on Risk Assessment, Compliance Monitoring & Programme Implementation, Data Protection, Audit and Training. Anne holds a Bachelor of Engineering, is a Certified Insurance Practitioner and a licentiate of the Association of Compliance Officers in Ireland. She has in depth knowledge and strong experience in both the Irish and UK regulatory environment.
Mr Justice Nicholas Kearns born in 1946, he was called to the Irish Bar in 1968 and to the English Bar in 1980. In 1982 he was appointed a senior counsel. Much of his work at the Bar was in personal injuries, acting for both Plaintiffs and Defendants. He was appointed to the High Court in 1998 and to the Supreme Court in 2004. He has also sat as a judge in the European Court of Human Rights and chaired the Referendum Commission in the Irish referendum on citizenship in 2004. He was made a bencher of Middle Temple in 2006. He was appointed President of the High Court in 2009, a position he occupied until he retired in 2015. Since then he has been made chairman of the Personal Injuries Commission in 2017. He also chairs the National Maternity hospital and serves on a public interest board of PwC. In the past year he has pursued and completed an M.Phil. course in Creative Writing in Trinity College.
Joan Mulvihill the Centre Director IC4 for the Irish Centre for Cloud Computing and Commerce. Prior to her current role, Joan served for 7 years as the CEO of the Irish Internet Association. Joan has worked with the very best technology entrepreneurs and researchers across the spectrum of start up indigenous businesses to established Global operators – Joan is long standing champion of innovation and a recognised industry spokesperson.
Gerry Hussey has been at the forefront of building high performance teams and individuals in both Olympic and Professional, sport and corporate organisations. His vast experience has seen him prepare and lead teams for success at Olympic Games, Heineken cups, World cups, and World and European championships in Professional Rugby, Olympic sailing, Athletics, Olympic Boxing, Track Cycling and GAA. Along with his sporting portfolio Gerry currently works with a number of global leading corporate organisations and business teams in the areas of Leadership, High Performance Team development and human performance and wellness. Gerry has developed a series of wellness and performance programmes that he runs both in Ireland and internationally where he facilitates and coaches his clients to strip away learned behaviours and thinking and re connect with the very best version of themselves to re awaken and ignite their inner passion and ability.
OSG Vericlaim’s very own Brid Deery was our MC for the day. Brid began working for OSG Vericlaim in 2012 as a Loss Adjuster, having previously worked with Quinn Insurance/Liberty Insurance as a Regional Claims Manager from 2008 – 2012. Brid transferred from the world of Investment Banking after having spent 5 years working for The Bank of New York Mellon Asset Servicing, to Insurance Claims Management in 2008. She has gained vast experience in the investigation and management of EL, PL and Motor Claims through from notification to resolution. Brid’s experience stretches across Employers and Public Liability, defamation, bullying and harassment. She has worked closely with some key accounts managing their complete portfolio of claims.
